Her path to massage therapy began when she was 9 years old. Penny was struck by a truck walking home from school. She was very blessed to receive zero internal injuries and only bruising, but she didn't know what damage was building up in the form of scar tissue. She was a very active child, played soccer all through high school and into her 20s. Unfortunately, in her early 20's, Penny began to have severe muscle spasms in her lower back. After enduring physical therapy and countless medications which did nothing to alleviate her long term pain, a friend who happened to be a massage therapist convinced her to receive a massage. In one session 80% of Penny’s pain was gone. Within two years she decided to go to school to become a massage therapist and has never looked back.
Penny received her license in August 2002, from Hands on Therapy School of Massage in Tyler, TX. She worked for a few years in Nacogdoches. In 2008, she began working at Helping Hands Chiropractic with Dr. Karen Austin, D.C. She remained with Dr. Austin until June of 2017 when the practice was sold. Penny re-tested for her national license in Massage in October 2017 and began working at KH fitness in November 2017.
Penny is knowledgeable in reflexology, lymphatic drainage, deep tissue, ART therapy, Swedish massage and has 80 hours of training under James Waslaski, LMT in orthopedic massage. She excels at orthopedic and deep tissue massage. Her passion is for helping people feel better, especially those who have had acute or chronic pain.
“There is no greater feeling than when a person feels better and has improved quality of life due to the work you provide them.” - Penny
